Artist's Comments

This is a diptych illustration from the short story, "Five Sailors and a Green Coffin" by Francisco Coloane. In the illustration title I left out "green" since, you know, it's black and white. They are important to each other because they have a conversation about similar things in two different places, on land and by sea. And they create a mirrored zig-zag composition. Yay! Sailors!

I know the world won\'t end today because it\'s already tomorrow somewhere else.

I love the sad posturing of the captain on the boat and walking behind the coffin- you are a great illustrator.

Also love the framing.

I am just loving the diptych in this whole thing. I am also a sucker for straight black and white illustrations.

thank you
that character has an important role in the story, he feels the most guilt for the guy in the coffin's death...
